Based in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, Kings of the Highway brings together some of the region’s most talented musicians. With exceptional female and male lead vocalists, their unique blend enables the band to provide an eclectic mix of high-energy party music. They have become one of the area's most recognizable and popular cover bands, always putting on a great show and leaving their crowds wanting more. They’ve been fast and furious in the clubs for over 10 years, and have every intention of keeping the pedal to the floor! A night out with the Kings & Queen is guaranteed to be a fantastic, dancing party experience!

What We Offer

We are one of the top variety/party cover bands in Raleigh with a significant following.
We know how to put on a show, utilizing professional light and sound equipment. We keep the party going with fast transitions between songs.
We have one of the best female lead singers in the area. We also have an awesome male lead singer, great dual lead guitarists and superb three part harmonies. Plus a killer rhythm section.
We play a wide variety of high-energy party music including Rock, Pop, R&B and Country
We actively promote every show with a great social media presence of over 1200 followers.
We are all experienced professional musicians with a cumulative total of thousands of live gigs to our credit.

The Kings and the Queen

Jennifer Allred - vocals
Jennifer, the “Queen of the Highway,” is a powerhouse lead vocalist and classically trained pianist whose range spans from Pat Benatar and Steve Perry to Alanis Morissette, Susan Tedeschi, and Chris Stapleton. She’s fronted 80's cover band "After School Special", and has played piano for Raleigh’s theater scene, including productions like Grease and Fiddler on the Roof. With Kings of the Highway, she brings fearless versatility— covering everyone from Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus to Robert Plant, Amy Winehouse, and Linda Ronstadt.

Dan Stipe - vocals/guitar/harmonica
Dan founded Kings of the Highway in 2015 and serves as the band’s musical compass—crafting diverse, crowd-pleasing set lists that reflect his love of rock, blues, jazz and Americana. On stage, he brings rhythm guitar, lead and harmony vocals, harmonica, tambourine and plenty of witty banter. His influences span legends like Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Miles Davis and Watchhouse. His musical curiosity keeps the band’s sound fresh and evolving.

Steve Lane - vocals/guitar
Steve's roots run deep in British prog rock and jazz fusion, shaped by guitar legends like Steve Howe & Jeff Beck. “Music is universal. It takes people to their ‘happy place’, bringing back their cherished memories. For me, there’s no greater feeling than performing in front of a live audience, bringing them to their ‘happy place’. Watching their excited reactions when we kick into one of their favorite songs is an immense rush. I feel honored to be invited back time and again to every club and entertain their audiences. I am also blessed to be able to play together with some of the finest musicians and vocalists on this circuit. I look forward to doing so for many years to come”.

Kevin Boxell - vocals/drums
Kevin’s been gigging since age 13, after picking up drums, trumpet and keys as a kid. With over 3,000 performances under his belt—from symphonic bands and theater pits to national tours—he now brings his rock-solid groove to Kings of the Highway. Offstage, he’s a go-to sound tech and a versatile fill-in for local theater, churches and bands across the Triangle.

Cameron Dye - bass guitar
Cam anchors Kings of the Highway with jaw-dropping bass chops, effortlessly tackling the most demanding classic rock and pop lines. Inspired by legends like John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee and John Entwistle, he adds his own flair while locking in with Kevin to form one of the tightest rhythm sections around. Known for stepping in last-minute and nailing gigs without rehearsal, Cam’s quiet stage presence belies his monster talent and deep respect on the local music scene.
